I’m really not. Seriously. Just because I love to hug and cuddle my dogs, especially after reading the current issue of Bark magazine, does not mean I should meet the hostile teeth of Miss Maggie. She gave a little warning growl. Let me know she wasn’t in the mood, so truly it is my own damn fault. I now bear an adoring wound above my left eye which will hopefully become only a small reminder scar. Reminding me of what? That free will extends to dogs and their space is to be respected as well.

So. I finally did it. In this pic you see the fabulous Chris Hill, a true twinner, and I posing before we line up to be given empty folders that imply we have graduated.

Awesome.

Way to go classmates, graduating class of 2009! Here is to chocolate, nudity and social justice.

We are at the Spanish Village, art studios, at Balboa Park.

Check out the baby angel on the right. Pulling a Dr. Evil. I loved this molding….one of many in Balboa Park. I don’t know the correct term for these, so forgive my ignorance. I loved this one.

RSVP

Seriously. These cool ass grannies come rolling up, total 5-0, in Balboa Park. The police car states they are RSVP squad: Retired Senior Volunteer Police. That’s right. These grandmothers patrol the park as official police officers. How freaking cool is that! I had to take a pic. I wanted to ask for a pic with them, but being arrested by a granny in uniform would have been the most awesome moment in my life and I would have died from glee on the spot.

Here is to you! True mavericks.

This guy was jamming out at Balboa Park. He was resting, saw me taking his pic and then picked up his horn and started playing. Reminded me of Grandma and I took a pic.

Penguin Sea World

Dig it. The females lay the eggs. The males sit on it (fonzi style of course) and the females then go about hunting and gathering. Maybe more matriarchy than egalitarian, but awesome none the less.

Also, they mate for life. Never know when a 20,000 pound Shamu will eat your mate, but still….for life.

Polar Bear Sea World

Originally uploaded by bukowskigrl.

Shamu gets all the love. He is a 20,000 pound dolphin after all. Regardless of his slick breakdancing and crowd pleasing huggability, I still prefer the polar bear. Besides being a true “maverick”, as demonstrated by a life of solitude and bravely swimming from ice cap to ice cap, they are damn cute. I wouldn’t go up and try to huge one, read not stupid, but they are infinitely gifted at amusing themselves. I dig that. I also get that. Being ok with being alone is an essential life skill in my opinion.

Love the polar bear. Favorite animal at Sea World. Fo Sho!
